Overview

Matillion is a data integration and transformation solution specialist built for the cloud and cloud data warehouses. Globally accepted as the market leader, in 2011 they were a start up business that needed to scale up after creating a market leading ETL tool. They were interested in attracting highly skilled individuals who could help them continue to innovate at the rate the business required for their projected growth.

KDR was brought in to help with this scale up as they were highly focused on business intelligence and data warehousing at that time and had the skills, knowledge and market position to assist with the scale up phase. The team at Matillion were small and not HR staffed so KDR needed to elevate away from a transactional relationship and become a true partner to Matillion. KDR wrote job specifications, adverts, advised on processes, helped find suitable locations for new offices and advise on benefits.

KDR acted in this consulting role to ensure Matillion were able to find and attract the best talent on the market to the business.

The roles they were looking to fill encompassed Big Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Testers, DevOps Engineers, Product Managers and Software Development Managers.

Approach

We began by familiarising ourselves with the technology, solution and platform Matillion had created. Once we fully understood these elements we set about creating a brand proposition to help attract candidates to the business, consulting on benefits and incorporating the culture and values into the sell package. We mapped the market to help Matillion understand where the talent sat. This in turn helped them understand where to open new offices.

Once the collateral and processes were in place we approached our highly engaged community with the opportunities. We sat in on the interviewing process and followed the candidate journey from start to finish meaning we were able to keep tight control of the pipeline and candidate management process.

All 5 recent campaign hires made within the required time frames for project start dates.

By creating such a close partnership KDR was successful in helping Matillion create a strong employer proposition, understand how their benefits benchmarked against the market, where the talent lived (to help set up new hubs for Matillion) and what processes to put in place to help keep candidates engaged throughout the entire pipeline.
