Description
We’re hiring on behalf of a high-calibre cloud consultancy delivering cutting-edge AI and data solutions to enterprise clients across financial services, tech, and beyond. Known for its engineering-led mindset, minimal bureaucracy, and deep focus on quality, the company is rapidly scaling its AI capability—and looking for a Lead AI Application Engineer to help shape its next chapter.
This is a key technical leadership role for someone who wants to own architecture decisions without stepping away from the keyboard .
The Role:
As a Lead AI Application Engineer , you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end design and hands-on development of GenAI applications. You’ll define architectural patterns, mentor engineers, and serve as the technical point of contact across multiple high-impact client projects. Your work will directly influence how advanced LLM-driven systems are deployed at scale across real-world enterprise environments.
You'll bridge deep technical knowledge with strategic impact—contributing code, guiding design, and leading delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and deliver production-ready Generative AI solutions using LLMs and modern orchestration frameworks.
- Design scalable and maintainable systems incorporating RAG architectures , vector databases , and multi-agent orchestration tools (e.g. LangGraph , CrewAI , Bedrock Agents ).
- Lead technical decision-making across AI projects—ensuring robust design, performance, and security.
- Collaborate with engineering peers and client stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Contribute hands-on code across the full lifecycle—from PoC to deployment.
- Stay ahead of the curve on emerging trends in LLMOps, GenAI architecture, and AI tooling.
- Provide mentorship to engineers across data, AI, and platform disciplines.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years in AI/ML engineering, with at least 1–2 years leading technical architecture in GenAI applications.
- Deep experience designing and building end-to-end AI pipelines using LLMs and foundation models.
- Proficiency in building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and integrating vector databases like Pinecone , OpenSearch , or pgvector .
- Strong hands-on skills with Python , AI orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, etc.), and AWS tools such as Amazon Bedrock , S3 , Lambda , or Databricks Mosaic AI .
- Familiar with MLOps practices, CI/CD, and production deployment of AI models.
- Skilled in model evaluation, prompt engineering, and working with human-in-the-loop paradigms.
- Excellent communicator—capable of translating complex ideas to both technical and business stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience leading small teams or mentoring engineers in delivery-focused environments.
- Knowledge of cloud security, model governance, or compliance in enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), containerization, and serverless design patterns.
- Experience training or fine-tuning foundation models (LLMs or diffusion).
Why Join?
- Tech-led consultancy – founded by engineers, built for engineers.
- Projects with enterprise clients solving real-world data and AI problems at scale.
- Collaborative culture with autonomy, ownership, and minimal red tape.
- Work with a team of top-tier engineers who genuinely love what they do.
- 85% remote – with flexibility built in and a preference for people in Eastern Time.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $190K–$220K (DOE)
- Bonus opportunities tied to presales and delivery impact
- Equity-like upside: Phantom stock with 4-year vesting & evergreen rollover
- Benefits: Health, dental, vision, and 401K with 4% match
